First of
all I want to point out that Geometry is a fundamental part of the culture of
man. It is difficult to find contexts in which Geometry does not appear
directly or indirectly.
The
teaching of geometry is also important since our daily verbal language has many
geometric terms, such as point, parallel or straight. If we must communicate
with others about the location, size or shape of an object, the geometric
terminology is fundamental.
On the
other hand Geometry is one of the parts of mathematics closest to the reality
that surrounds us, and that is why its teaching is essential, especially in the
early stages of education.
His
teaching is also essential because thanks to Geometry the student acquires a
criterion when listening to read and think, because when the student studies
geometry, he stops accepting blind propositions and ideas and is taught to
think clearly and critically, before making conclusions.
